CAPO SA Yuris Sterns Open + 618 Novice Powerlifting Competition

Welcome to the official event for the CAPO SA Yuris Sterns Open + 618 Novice Powerlifting Competition!

This event will be held at 618 Barbell, on Sunday 23rd October, with two sessions.

AM session will be the CAPO SA Yuris Sterns Open, and lifting will begin at 9am.

PM session will be the 618 Novice Powerlifting, and lifting will begin at approximately 2pm (this is dependent on our finishing time of Session 1). As we have more information about the numbers of lifters in Session 1, we will update the start time.

There are a limited number of places in each session so please get in quicky to avoid disappointment.

CAPO SA Yuris Sterns Open

The CAPO Yuris Sterns Open is a qualifying event for the CAPO 2023 National Championships. Details of how to qualify can be found on the CAPO website, but are subject to change up until September 1st when qualifying officially opens.

There is one difference from this rulebook we apply to our CAPO SA competitions:

-  Squats CANNOT be walked out.

Weigh-ins (at 618 Barbell) will be open on Saturday 22nd October 9am-11am, and 1-3pm. If you cannot attend this weigh-in, please contact the meet directors at 618powerlifting@gmail.com at least one week before the event.

618 Novice Powerlifting

618 Novice Powerlifting is suitable for all levels of lifter. We utilise the rules and regulations of the WPC Australia rulebook (https://worldpowerliftingcongress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/WPC-Rule-book-Official-Website-2022doc.pdf), but offer a little flexibility being that this is a novice event.

There are two differences from this rulebook for the 618 Novice Powerlifting Competition:

-  Squats CANNOT be walked out.

-  There will be a START command on bench press.

You do not need a membership with the CAPO federation, or to wear a soft suit.

The only requirements are:

-  Sleeved t-shirt for squats and bench press.

-  Deadlift socks (up to just below the knee) OR full-length tights/pants OR knees sleeves as shin coverage for deadlifts.

-  Fully enclosed footwear for squats, bench press and deadlifts (deadlift slippers are acceptable).

REFUND POLICY

There are no refunds for competition entry fees if you withdraw from this event.

You cannot transfer your competition entry to a later event.

You can transfer your competition entry to another lifter for this event only.
